Personality

dez is a prankster at heart. he's ruined pranks for his sister and brother, terrorized his school with his pranks yet still seems to be one of the most kind and friendly people out there. while a little on the slow side in terms of social processing speed, he pays attention to emotional reactions more than anything else.
he keeps himself busy in his free time, and his sleep habits are a little on the lacking side.
He's a bit out of it sometimes, it must be a family trait. While seeming distracted, he's pretty observant. He's a bit strange, and always seems to have snacks on him somewhere.

history & more

as a kid, dezato was bright, and friendly! In universes where Dezato has his power, it activated when he was playing tag with his friend, Hana.he'd been playing tag in a field near his house with his little sister and a neighbor. the neighbor, hana had only been a year or two older than him. his power activated as he grabbed her wrist, immediately draining and killing her. this overloaded his "battery" and he fainted. dezato would not wake up for three months. when he woke up, he did not remember the death of the other girl immediately, only a few flashes of the moments before.the government was called in over the sheer strength of his power, and upon realizing that the child himself was not a threat, took him in. this called for the changing of his and his families name, a new identity and home. dezato had since been trained and put into therapy over the incident.His sister was born six years after Dez, and their mother died due to complications during their baby brother's birth when kanami was four and Dez was ten. This left Dez's father to get two jobs. sure, the government paid well, but they were only really paying for dezato and his housing, along with a little extra money. it was nowhere near enough to cover the other kids costs or all of the living finances.dezato had already been put through therapy after the death of hana, but there had been a slight increase in sessions after the passing of his mom. he wanted to blame the hospital, if he'd been allowed in there, dezato figured he could have saved her. he still has nightmares about the field even today. he started a habit of snacking throughout the day instead of full meals around sixteen, and convinced the govenment to let him get a year of schooling in at a public school for his senior year.dezato let loose a little during that senior year, becoming known for his pranks. he took up skateboarding around then too, using it as a means of transportation that allows him to have a free feeling. he sends money home to his dad, extra to help out.**in universes where there are no powers, her death was a tragic accident that he witnessed POWERS. 
In universes with powers, Aki can drain or give life force from plants, animals, and in some cases (depending on restrictions) people. The life force he drains is stored in a 'battery' of sorts, and he can give from that battery to heal people. This does not work for fatal wounds except in certain conditions (enough people for him to safely drain life force from without hurting annulment). Using the draining portion of this power causes headaches, nausea, and dizziness. Overuse (to the point of knocking someone out, healing larger/ bigger wounds) can cause him to faint.
He can also drain from himself, but this causes full body burning and intense pain. TRIVIA. 

  • you'll likely never actually come into physical contact with dezato unless it's for healing purposes, or a fight.

  • dezato strays from normalcy in a way others would find strange. even when he puts an arm over or around you, he never actually makes contact.

  • his hand will float an inch or so away from you with scary precision as he moves or talks. he's been extra careful like this since his power formed. (In universes without power, he just genuinely avoids physical contact)

  • crowded spaces? he'll wait unless he knows he can weave through or there's less people.

  • snacks. this man has a never ending supply. pockets? usually got something there.

  • there's a recurring joke around the agency that people win prizes if they find where he stores his snacks, and it's no secret that most of the pockets in his utility belt are filled with rice cakes.

  • his sister, kanami has ranked him most likely to steal your picnic basket, dubbing him “yogi-bear"

  • dezato has a habit of offering snacks if he runs out of conversation topics.
